A DAP leader says Senawang residents are in the dark about the existence of a new commuter station in their area.

SENAWANG: “Hidden station” would be the best description for the latest commuter station built in Negri Sembilan, according to Senawang state assemblyman P Gunasekaran.

The DAP leader visited the commuter station here today after receiving numerous complaints from residents that they had to go through a congested junction before making a U-turn to enter the station.

“KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd) and local authorities should create a junction at the entrance of the commuter train station along the Senawang main road.

“But now those wishing to use the commuter train service coming from the Senawang township have to drive an additional 1.5km before they can enter the station,” he said.

Gunasekaran said the entrance from the Seremban-Tampin road bypassing Taman Bukit Emas was not user-friendly at all.

During the visit, the state assemblyman also noted that the ticket counter was deserted, and not a single commuter was in sight.

While praising KTMB and the state government for their efforts to improve public transportation, Gunasekaran however regretted that the station was not being fully utilised.

“Based on my survey, many people are not aware of the commuter train station. I suggest that KTMB install a much bigger signboard at the entrance of the station near the Senawang road.

“This is because the station is located some 500m from the main road and is not clearly visible from the main road because it is being blocked by buildings,” he said.

“KTMB should promote the station by puting up buntings along streetlights,” he added.
